PAX Gold (PAXG) Overview
Last updated: November 3, 2026
PAX Gold (PAXG) is a digital token designed to represent allocated physical gold. Each PAXG token is allocated to specific London Good Delivery gold bars, and holders may own either full bars or fractional, pro rata interests in bars depending on their balance.
For more information about PAXG, visit paxg.com.
Bar allocation and lookup
Paxos may reallocate PAXG across gold bars over time to reflect transfers, purchases, conversions, and other token activity. Paxos Wallet customers can view available bar details from the PAXG Allocation report in the Pax Gold tab of the account Dashboard. Details may include serial number, brand code, gross weight, fineness, and fine weight.
Customers holding PAXG on-chain outside Paxos can use the lookup tool at paxg.com with an Ethereum address. The tool may not always return results for tokens held on exchanges because exchange wallet structures can make individual ownership harder to identify.
Pricing and trading
PAXG pricing on Paxos.com is based on streaming prices from Paxos’s partner StoneX to reflect the real-time London gold market. PAXG purchases and sales on paxos.com are available during London gold market hours: Sunday 6:00pm ET through Friday 5:00pm ET, excluding the weekday 5:00pm–6:00pm ET closure and applicable gold market holidays.
When a customer confirms a live quote, Paxos fills the order at the confirmed price. In rare cases where the gold market moves significantly, Paxos may cancel the quote early and prompt the customer with a new quote. PAXG/USD pricing under the Trade tab is order-book based and may differ from mint/redeem pricing under the PAXG tab.
Minimums and fees
There is no minimum holding amount for PAXG, and PAXG is divisible to 18 decimal places. When purchasing PAXG on paxos.com, the minimum purchase is 0.03 PAXG because of the 0.02 PAXG conversion fee.
Paxos does not charge gold storage fees to customers at this time. The fee schedules below apply to PAXG creation, redemption, and conversion activity through Paxos. These fees do not apply when buying or selling PAXG through the Paxos exchange order book or outside the Paxos Wallet; those trades may be subject to applicable trading fees instead.
Creation fees
Creation fees are waived through January 1, 2027. After the promotional period ends, the following standard creation fee schedule applies:
Tier (oz) | Lower bound (oz) | Rate |
< 2 oz (flat 0.02 PAXG) | — | 0.02 PAXG |
2–25 oz | 2 | 1.000% |
25–50 oz | 25 | 0.750% |
50–75 oz | 50 | 0.500% |
75–200 oz | 75 | 0.250% |
200–800 oz | 200 | 0.150% |
> 800 oz | 800 | 0.125% |
Redemption fees
Effective September 1, 2026, redemption fees are based on each account’s rolling 30-day net redemption activity, calculated as total redemptions minus total creations in the trailing 30 days. Rates apply marginally, meaning each band is charged only on the portion of net redemption activity that falls within it. Accounts with balanced two-way activity, where creations and redemptions roughly offset, remain at the base 0.125% rate.
Net redemption (30-day rolling) | Rate |
First $2M net | 0.125% |
$2M–$10M net | 0.250% |
$10M–$20M net | 0.350% |
Over $20M net | 0.500% |
In-kind conversion fee
Effective September 1, 2026, a 5 bps (0.05%) fee applies to in-kind conversions from PAXG to unallocated or allocated gold.
Common questions
Where can I buy PAXG? Customers may be able to buy PAXG through Paxos or supported third-party crypto exchanges, depending on availability and jurisdiction.
Why can PAXG differ from spot gold? PAXG market prices can vary across venues. Paxos.com mint/redeem pricing uses real-time StoneX London gold market pricing, while exchange prices are generally order-book based.
When is the price locked? For Paxos conversion/redemption flows, the price is set when the customer accepts or submits the live quote, not later at settlement.
Where are attestations available? Paxos Trust Company engages Withum to independently verify at month end that PAXG supply corresponds 1:1 with ounces of London Good Delivery gold held in vaults. Attestation reports are available at paxos.com/attestation.
